Community Shorts
Curated by Cecilia Araneda
This series examines the process of artists and the community coming together in the creation of documentaries. Montrealer Shira Avni’s animated documentaries provide greater insight into the life, challenges and achievements of people with Down’s Syndrome. Winnipeg-based Jim Agapito and Ervin Chartrand have together and individually completed a number of documentaries and videos on the process of artists working collaboratively with the community. And, the youth of the Spence Neighborhood Association created a stunning collaborative documentary through a program of the Winnipeg Film Group, providing us a telling look at their daily lives.
